Gary and Shirley Bohanon
Our Lead Pastors, Gary and Shirley Bohanon, began their ministry together in January of 1969. They entered full-time ministry as Youth Pastors and in the intervening years have served as associate pastors, senior pastors and missionaries.
In the summer of 2017 Gary and Shirley Bohanon returned from six years of ministry in Rwanda, Africa not knowing what their next season of ministry would look like. While in Rwanda they had purchased some land near Blanchard and proceeded with plans to build their home there. Toward the end of 2017 they were made aware of some of the spiritual needs in the area and began investigating the possibility of planting a church.
In January of 2018 weekly team building meetings were started and on October 7, 2018 The Place Church was launched. The Bohanon's are committed to sharing the message that every person is loved, wanted and has a God-given purpose in life that will bring fulfillment to the person and blessing to the world.
Kasey and Katie were both born and raised in Oklahoma. They met at the church they both attended when he was 17 and she was 14. They married in January 2004, and they have four wonderful children: Kylen, Kassidy, Kaisen and Kamdyn. Family time is very important, and they love spending that time with their children and extended family. The Grubbs’ family loves sports, investing time in the kids activities and the great outdoors.
Ministry – Kasey and Katie are both credentialed ministers for the Assemblies of God. Kasey received his calling at the age of eight. He was raised in church, and he has been involved with kid’s ministries since that time. Kasey is the Royal Rangers Heartland Territory Coordinator and Paintball Coordinator for the District.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
He is also the Royal Rangers Coordinator for the church. Kasey has been mentored by his mother who is a Children’s Pastor, and he has worked alongside her since he was young. Katie has also worked in the children’s ministry alongside Kasey and her mother-in-law. She is the Ranger Kids Commander and Assistant Coordinator to Kasey and his district duties.
Vision – We are dedicated to building God’s Kingdom by reaching kids of all ages and equipping each child with the knowledge and desire to reflect Christ through their lives. We also like to involve children in evangelism and church ministry through music, puppets, and drama to raise them to be leaders for Christ,
Frank and Courtney Prieto
Frank and Courtney Prieto have been together for 15 years, 10 of which they have been happily married. They have three wonderful children, Jazmine age 9, Isabella age 7 and Dominic “J Paul” age 6. Frank was born and raised here in Oklahoma and graduated from Mount Saint Mary High School. Courtney was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She moved to McAlester, Oklahoma during high school and graduated from McAlester High School. After high school, Courtney attended Oklahoma Christian. It is there she met Frank through the internet and the rest is history.
Frank and Courtney value family and friends. They love spending time with their family by going to the movies, having family game night, nerf gun wars, water balloon fights and just being together. They love spending time with friends as well, playing games, going to dinner and the movies or just having a cup of coffee with genuine conversation. They strongly believe that blessings flow through relationships and can’t wait to build new relationships here at The Place.
Frank has served with youth since 2014 and received his call to ministry at summer camp that year after witnessing several students accept Jesus into their lives. Since then he has taught on Wednesday nights, led several youth small groups and taught an apologetics class for 7th and 8th graders on Sunday nights. Frank is currently in the process of receiving his credentialing through the Assemblies of God. Courtney has served with kids since 2013, teaching on Sunday mornings, coordinating VBX and has been a substitute teacher for the past two years.
Our mission is to empower and mentor youth to help them step into their God given potential and identity in Christ.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (CSB)
